Circulation-regulated impacts of aerosol pollution on urban heat island in Beijing

چکیده
Abstract. Unprecedented urbanization in China has led to serious urban heat island (UHI) issues, exerting intense stress on residents. Based the observed temperature and PM2.5 concentrations Beijing over 2016–2020, we find diverse influences of aerosol pollution intensity (UHII) under different circulations. When northerly winds are prevalent Beijing, UHII tends be much higher both daytime nighttime it is less affected by concentrations. However, when southerly westerly dominant rural significantly reduced pollution. Using coupled aerosol-radiation weather simulations, demonstrate underlying physical mechanism which associated with local circulation resulting spatial distribution aerosols. Our results also highlight role black carbon aggravating UHI, especially during nighttime. It could thus targeted for cooperative management islands

Detecting and Analyzing Urban Heat Island Patterns in Beijing, China
The study reports a research aiming to detect the spatial pattern of urban heat island (UHI) phenomena in Beijing, China, and to determine the relationship between the UHI pattern and a set of landscape and demographical variables. The study area has been one of the fastest growing metropolises in China during the past two decades. Land surface radiance temperature (SRT) values were extracted f...

We are all familiar with the fact that cities are generally warmer than the surrounding, more rural areas. We see it referenced most nights in our television weather reports. It is especially significant on nights with clear skies and light winds which favor radiational cooling. This is most significant in the rural areas but in the city, the excess heat absorbed during the day and the local he...
